Geek Speak: COVID-19 x Fairly distribute reduced hours

by Rotageek on 19 March 2020

Fair hours distribution of team hours when demand has significantly dropped.

COVID-19 is causing significant economic disruption and this means customer demand has dropped significantly for our retail and food service customers. Scheduling managers will be looking to reduce the hours that their colleagues work, both to spend less as sales drop and reduce the risk of infection spread amongst their staff. To help them with this, Rotageek provides two pieces of functionality:

  1. A budget override feature: This feature lets managers change their budget just before scheduling, as guidance on allowed spend from their head office could change at the last minute.
  2. Fairly distributed hours: The Autoscheduler can be configured to fairly distribute those reduced hours, so that all staff can receive at least some working hours and there are not disparities in workload or pay.

As you can see in the above demo, the overall labour spend was constrained by a new budget and the Autoscheduler distributed the hours evenly across employees as best as possible.
