The Story
RotaGeek was founded in January 2009 by doctor and health entrepreneur Chris McCullough, emeritis Professor of Medicine at the University of London Professor Roy Pounder and senior IT developer and technical expert Nick Mann. The Big Idea
Our idea was simple, to make rotas easy. National and European regulations have set complex limits on the hours that a doctor can work and the minimum rest that they much achieve. Since 2000, we have seen a decrease in training exposure, an increase in the complexity of workforce structure in hospitals and a decrease in flexibility for doctors- such a taking leave or swapping shifts. In 2009, we began design and development of RotaGeek- a software system that would be simple to use but allow doctors, trainers and mangers to develop rotas suited to their needs, all within the New Deal and European Working Time Directive.
Building RotaGeek
We have been developing RotaGeek continuously since January 2009. We now have a product that will meet the needs of doctors across the country. We have already begun development of an international edition and have some exciting plans for the future.
