Adoption is no longer the question. Rotageek's new research, conducted with independent research agency Opinium and covering 400 senior workforce management decision-makers in UK organisations with 500+ employees, shows AI use in workforce management has reached a tipping point: widespread, high-confidence, and backed by growing investment.
But adoption and maturity aren't the same thing. Most organisations are already using AI. Far fewer have made it central to how workforce decisions actually get made. That's the AI Maturity Gap, and it's the reason this 3-part webinar series exists.
Across three, 20-minute sessions, Joe Leith of JL Workforce & Analytics Advisory (and former Director of Retail Analytics at William Hill) and PayCaptain's Enterprise Account Executive, Eve Kelly unpack what the research really shows, why so many organisations get stuck, and what it takes to close the gap.
The AI Maturity Gap
Why AI adoption isn't the same as AI maturity
New research from Rotageek shows 86% of workforce leaders are using AI, but only 17% say it's central to decision-making. Joe and Eve unpack why that confidence isn't translating into real operational maturity.
It's not an adoption problem anymore, it's a maturity problem. Everyone's doing something with AI.
The real question is what happens next: why progress stalls after early experimentation, why almost nobody wants to "own" AI internally, and what separates organisations quietly closing this gap from those stuck experimenting.

Why workforce AI projects stall before they scale
Trust and transparency are the most cited barrier to workforce AI maturity, cited by 37% of leaders. It's showing up in a very specific way: teams quietly double-checking every AI output, handing back the productivity gain they were meant to gain in the first place.
Joe and Eve go past the buying decision and into what actually happens next: a 34% skills gap, 31% citing compliance concerns, another 31% pointing to data quality and integration issues, and a phenomenon they call "bot-sitting."
They also dig into a governance standoff that shows up again and again: everyone agrees AI needs to be trusted, but almost nobody agrees on who's accountable for making that happen.

How to start closing the AI maturity gap
69% have AI built into their workforce platform. 65% are also leaning on general AI tools. Joe and Eve close the series with a look at what the next 12 months genuinely look like for organisations serious about workforce AI maturity, starting with that overlap most people miss.
They talk through why shadow AI usage exists, why moving to specialist, embedded AI is the real unlock for trust and compliance, and what closing the gap actually takes in practice: strengthening core data foundations, sharpening forecasting and analytics, and bringing people into the design process before deployment, not after.
Maturity, they argue, rarely comes down to one hero "AI owner," it takes a data owner and an adoption owner working closely together. The takeaway is deliberately practical: you'll never feel fully ready, so the organisations pulling ahead are the ones starting anyway.

Across three 20-minute sessions, this series moves from what the AI maturity gap looks like, to what's blocking organisations from closing it, to what actually closing it takes. Here's what you'll take away.
